The problem is people think of this as a game. Not what it actually is. For $100, it's decent, not great, not bad. It's made for beginners that like to mess around but not much else. Great for making small scores for projects or youtube videos. To compare, check out FLS (Fruity Loops Studio) - One i've used since it's inception. It's limitless for making anything you dare to create.
It's price for software + plugins is $999So for royalty free loops and a nice easy to use interface, Magix is a good software to mess with when you're bored. I've used previous versions of Magix over the years and always enjoyed just playing around with it.With FL Studio you can do as I have with a Midi keyboard and few other tools and create studio, commercial quality music.Anyhow, at $50, it's a steal for Magix. Unfortunately steam is the wrong platform to sell it on where everyone expects everything under $20. Producing music isn't cheap. The problem is that this crap is on Steam at all, let alone is priced above 3 dollars. If I were allowed to own songs I make with this program, that would be one thing. I could play with the thing for a bit, try to make some music and if I made 1-3 tracks worth hearing I could put them up for a dollar per download or something, that is the American Dream, after all.But no.No matter what I could make with this program, I don't own it.

Sorry that there is no soundpool dvd 13 i checked magix's website. Unrar and enjoy but remember its bigger then what it truly is.
What a piece of crap. FL Studio only costs 999 if you pay the full version, which you don't quite need. The Fruity Loops Studio signature bundle is $299 right now. You sure don't need the full $999 bundle to start, but FLS is also not for beginners. I wouldn't quite put the two in the same category since one is for f un and the other is for actually producing music. As someone who has been in the scene for over a decade, I'm not new to this whole debate. You get those who are up in arms over a $100 music program and those serious enough to invest $5,000+ to start with a pro setup.Magix, I see as an intro style software to the producing music scene with a few decent plugins for audio modification.
If you're serious about producing something, FLS was a better buy for you anyway, but not great for someone just looking to play around. It's pretty complex.Good luck. I have worked in some audio programs before (junky ones, like Magix Music Maker and the playstation one). I am not serious enough to invest 5k.
I don't have money falling out of my ♥♥♥♥. I do have enough desire to own what I create out of principle to waste no time on a program that doesn't let me own my work.If I buy a hammer and some nails, there is no way the manufacturer of the hammer and nails can ask for a royalty if I sell a birdhouse I made from it.I am not 100% certain that I have the talent, time or desire to be, like, a full time 'Band' or anything. If I produce something people like enough that I can get paid something for it, sweet deal. No illusions or delusions though. Just a little bit of desire to try my hand at something new.FLS was a steal at the price I got it for.
I should have just plunged in 10 years ago but I had other priorities at that time in my life. I feel a little lost in FLS, but I will catch on. Besides, it gives me a new subject to learn in general (music) which is a good thing. Check out youtube for FLS tutorials, some people have some neat tricks to teach. Even then it's a pain in the butt. Though i'd HIGHLY recommend a $99 cheap midi keyboard from amazon or if walmart has it if you have access to either of those two. This way you can create a melody far easier and play/tweak it and then you'll be hooked.Have fun anyway, that's what it's all about:) Not sure if your purchase came with the Nexus plugin.
If not, i highly recommend it.This is a pretty good look into making a popular trackAs for Magix, i still have to say i enjoy using it for wasting time. I also use it for photo videos of my son to create soft scores. So why would I want to mix and match a bunch of crappy pre-recorded loops? That is not ownership of what I would create, that is using a bunch of crappy loops other people made. Most of them are pop and (c)rap oriented anyway, which makes sense as the musicianship for many of the performers in those genera is well below substandard so they wouldn’t do it themselves. Well that’s what I got from the video tutorials anyway. In the case that I would use them in something commercial, it'd be moot to pay like the $100 or even $1,000 for the licenses if I’m bringing in say $50,000 to $100,000 dollars or more for a steam game or whatever else commercial.
In the event that I did use them it’d be because I just need something small and quick and am too rushed or lazy to bother, in which case I don’t mind forking over extra cash for not having to do it myself. But this makes it pretty easy to throw something together otherwise too. As a whole this has pretty much given me everything I want and solved a few problems I didn’t expect it too. On a final note that on Steam takes a lot of hassle out of it too. My only real issue is that it doesn’t like M4A files.
If you have the luxury to solve your problems by spending money, good for you. I don't.When you don't have $1,000 dollars to just, you know, throw around whenever you want to, you have to make conscious purchases. Now, if this is 'Just a game' and should be seen as 'Just a game' instead of 'Audio Production Software' there are some things that can correct it, like changing the tag from Audio Production to Game.Maybe lowering the price to something you would expect to use for entertainment only (in teh $20.00 range). If this were on sale for $20.00 as the normal price, I would not have complained at all. I would have purchased it, and that be that.Instead, this 'for entertainment only' software silently implies itself as something you and your friends can use to make some music.I am looking at getting:Akai Professional MPK49 Keyboard USB MIDI ControllerRoland UA-22 DUO CAPTURE EX USB Audio/MIDI InterfaceI am looking at a few electric guitars at local shops.
Holding them in my hands, strumming a few lines, getting a feel for it. I used to play some electric a VERY long time ago, I just gave up on it because I had no way to get what I was playing onto a computer and I hated working with others in a band. I just wanted to run my own show. This will help me get in the right direction. If I 'fail' - What is failure anyway?
I paid 300 bucks (almost) and I own everything I can make. If nothing else, I had fun, and could probably create some sound libraries to sell on the cheap. If I succeed - It will ONLY be because I owned the tools I am using. It will be ONLY because I have the rights to use any sound or sample on the directwave or olgun to create a new sample or loop, which I myself will own. The only chance I have to 'succeed' comes from owning what I make. That is why I am so hard on this software. You're simply comparing two totally different softare models. I don't see Magix the same way I see FLS for production.
Magix is more a tool for personal, private use. No one in their right mind that knows anything about producing music would use Magix seriously. As for cost, loops aren't cheap. Each loop has a license associated with it. Magix as far as I understand with 2015 version has a vast library of loops that cost money. Any loops in my old version of Fruity Loops were created with the software itself.Magix falls in the music category but it's more of the for fun category.
Now on the price topic, i'm not in the know of their business decisions, but I do agree, $99 for what it is, is high. It's not a serious enough software IMO and should be priced more around what other steam games sell for. $20 is a tad low considering what sound loops do actually cost. The software development itself is time and employee salary that needs compensation, the sound loops are a different story and cost bundles. When it comes to 'throwing around $1000' when it comes to producing music, it's not about throwing it around. It's a job, not something you just do because you want something neat to do with friends.
I didn't build up the small studio I had setup in one day. It took time and many equipment rentals to get to a point I was happy with.
Magix is a little better then it used to be, but i see it more as an xbox type thing to pop in and play around with. It's great for what it is but there is a reason I don't have it in my library.
I'm not paying $99 for it. Hello everyone,at first thank you for your feedback.Maybe i can clarify some points. When you have to pay additionally:It is right that to some point, you have to pay for commercial use. This includes especially using loops Music Maker provides in the Soundpools. In order to use these loops to create songs you want to sell somewhere or monetize your music, you need the license to do so.Like rePool said '$20 is a tad low considering what sound loops do actually cost.' I suppose I don't see anything wrong with this after all, if that is how it works. My understanding at first (if flawed), was that anything period made cannot be owned without commercial license. Producing music isn't cheap.Fruity loops is GARBAGE.It is the most mainstream commercial based DAW there is.It's REDICULOUSLY expensive and the sound engine is absolutely HORRID.For a cheap price Logic Pro would be the best choice. That are plenty of alternatives. But fruity loops is not one of them.
Please don't spread these bull lies.
